Guilty

At the trial we first heard testimony from the victims as to what their injuries were, and they were described as horrific. What we didn't hear or see was testimony from a medical professional or medical records corroborating their statement of injuries. Regardless, the trial Judge allowed the prosecution to request a sentence enhancement for Serious Bodily Injury (SBI).

We got to see an over the top presentation by a detective that is called a cell phone expert with bright colors, laser pointers, a projection screen that showed D. Bean & the additional person side by side on the day of the shooting, and the day before the shooting. What we did not see was Joseph with them, however, instead of clearly stating to the jury that Joseph was not with them, he opted instead to say that because Joseph has a different cell phone provider that perhaps they don't have a tower where the other 2 men were. The presentation was beautiful if I must say so, and looked so incredibly thorough, but, I highly doubt the jury understood it, and quite frankly they shouldn't have to. why shouldn't they believe a detective who took an oath to uphold the law?

We got to hear the additional person testify in front of the jury that he had never met Joseph, or heard his name before and that D. Bean said he was hired by his "peoples" (slang for family). He was even asked if he had ever heard mention of Joseph's alias (nicknames) such as "Dream" or "Big Young Bul", to which he affirmed he had never heard any of those names. 

We got to hear D. Bean testify that although he gave multiple conflicting statements, he was only trying to minimize his role in the crime and he had been hired by Joseph. We heard him deny that the detectives or prosecutors provided him with dates which coincided with the cell phone detectives investigation of where Joseph could possibly be. We heard him deny that his cousin hired him, and that he had the date wrong for 5 years because his memory wasn't clear, but it became clear right before trial after a visit from the detectives and DA's office where they provided him with documents or more specifically dates and documents that fit their theory. Call me crazy, but, this sounds like coercion and coaching and not a true and factual statement, but, I digress!

We also got to hear from Joseph, where he was finally able to tell his story because not one person in law enforcement ever asked. He explained that yes, he had engaged in criminal behavior by selling drugs and he had even sold D. Bean drugs before, but, he has never been violent to which his record proved. He had also never sold guns prior to the CI asking him to sell the CI some and he did so because he knew the CI well and had done it as a favor. Joseph was arrested, charged, and convicted of a 4 year sentence for those crimes which he served his time for that ended in 2021. That case was anticipated to result in a 5-10 year sentence to which Joseph was prepared to serve and had no ill intent or reason to harm anyone involved in that case which text messages proved, and the detectives & prosecutors ignored.

Yet, based on D. Bean's false statement, and no other evidence, the jury sided with the prosecutors.
